SPA AGM and Conference [next week]: Edinburgh 7&8 December; info. and register for dinner

Dear Scottish Philosophers,

The SPA AGM and Conference is coming up next week on Thursday/Friday 7 and 8 December in Edinburgh.  The conference program is below (with a few minor updates).  If you would like to attend the conference dinner (likely cost: £15 – £20), please email me at scotsphil@gmail.com by Tuesday 5 December. The dinner location will be Namaste Kathmandu (17 Forrest Rd).  If you would simply like to attend the conference, it would be great if you could let me know, but don’t feel pressure, and do feel free to simply turn up on the day.  Note: all Scottish PG students welcome!

I’m happy to announce more details on the upcoming SPA AGM in Edinburgh on Thursday/Friday 7 and 8 December.  David Papineau (KCL) is our keynote, and Michela Massimi (Edinburgh) and Glen Pettigrove (Glasgow) are also speaking.  Titles to be given in an update.

2015 Annual Meeting: dinner and accommodation information

2015 SPA Annual Meeting

4 – 5 December 2015

Department of Philosophy, 69 Oakfield Avenue, Glasgow

The 2015 Winter Meeting of the Scots Philosophical Association will be held at the University of Glasgow onFriday 4 and Saturday 5 December.

There is no registration fee for the conference, but there will be a charge of £15 per head for the conference dinner, which will be held at Asian Gourmet, a good Sichuanese restaurant near the department.

Please e-mail Ben Colburn (Ben.Colburn@glasgow.ac.uk) to register, by 5 pm on Friday 27 November. Please indicate whether you also want to come to the dinner, and if so, whether you have any dietary requirements that I should take into account; and if you do want to come to dinner, please bring cash (exactly £15, if possible) on the evening.

We are not arranging accommodation for attendees, but here are some good and inexpensive hotels in the West End of Glasgow, all of which are within easy walking distance of the department.

Keynote and PG speakers for SPA Annual Meeting: Driver and Peet

The Scots Philosophical Association Annual Meeting will be held this year at the University of St Andrews on 5th and 6th December.  Julia Driver (Washington University in St Louis) will be our keynote speaker, and Andrew Peet (University of St Andrews/University of Stirling) will present “Testimonial Knowledge Without Knowledge of What Is Said” in the postgraduate session.

The programme will be finalized soon; we expect the meeting to begin at 14:00 on Friday, 5th December, and conclude around 13:00 on Saturday, 6th December.  Watch this space for information on how to register for the meeting.

Registration is now open for the 2013 SPA Annual Meeting, which will be held on 6th and 7th December, 2013, at the University of Stirling.  Late registration charges will apply for registrations made after 28th November.
