  • SPC official response to AHRC proposed new model for postgraduate funding
The recent Report of the working group reviewing the AHRC's postgraduate funding mechanism (October 2006) proposes a new model of postgraduate funding. This model would bring about a major change of postgraduate funding. In the near future, 75% of postgraduate grants would be part of a portfolio of awards (Block Grant Partnerships). HE Institutions (universities, etc.) would apply for a whole package on behalf of all their Arts & Humanities departments. These grants could be awarded for periods up to 5 years (cf. report, 1.6, 5.i.3, 6.i-ii, 6.viii). Institutions would make their applications for a group of selected subject areas (cf. report, 5.i.5). 25% of postgraduate awards would be reserved for individual applications (cf. report, 1.8, 5.i.11).  The Scots Philosophical club has produced an official response to the proposals... further details
